Verdant magazine
The concept of this project was to create three spreads and a cover to a fictional magazine that we would be interested in reading ourselves. I decided to put together a cooking magazine that uses very fresh ingredients, but is worded and designed for intermediate home cooks. Verdant itself means green and alive. It was important to focus on the food, using a lot of up close shots of the dishes, while leaving the background space an open white. This is said to entice hunger. The layout leaves the viewer feeling a sense of elegance, yet in an approachable way. The fonts used were Garamond, Gill Sans, and Parma Petit.
